Anaheim’s September 21 SBA Session Spotlights Disaster Loans Open Until March 2027

A September 21, 2026 business-assistance session in Anaheim put a still-open federal disaster-loan program in front of owners dealing with losses from the Garden Grove hazmat incident. The useful takeaway for applicants is the deadline: March 11, 2027—not the date of the workshop.

The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce listed the session with Anaheim Economic Development and the Small Business Administration. Organizers asked owners to bring business tax returns, recent profit-and-loss statements and a summary of incident-related revenue losses. The meeting was scheduled for September 21; this article is not inviting readers to an event that has already passed. Chamber session listing

The underlying SBA program was announced June 11 and remains within its published application window. It covers eligible economic losses connected to the May 21–29 Garden Grove incident in California. The declared counties are Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. Being located in a listed county is not, by itself, proof of a qualifying loss. SBA declaration and terms

Eligible applicants include small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives and private nonprofits, including faith-based organizations. Most agricultural producers, farmers and ranchers are excluded, with an exception for aquaculture enterprises. The program can address working-capital needs even without physical damage.

Loans can reach $2 million. SBA lists rates as low as 4 percent for businesses and 3.625 percent for private nonprofits, with terms up to 30 years. The agency determines actual amounts and terms from each applicant’s financial condition. Payments are deferred and interest does not accrue for the first 12 months after initial disbursement, according to the announcement.

These are loans, not grants or guaranteed compensation. Anaheim’s official incident page explains that eligible working-capital uses can include payroll, debt and bills that could not be paid because of the disruption. It also describes other assistance separately, making it important not to combine different programs’ terms or assume an earlier relief fund is still open. Anaheim’s assistance information

For South Florida readers, this is a California-specific opportunity, not a Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach application. Owners with qualifying operations in the declared area should use the official SBA disaster-assistance route linked in the agency announcement, not a third-party site promising approval.

Before applying, organize records that connect the business loss to the incident and review the repayment obligation. A maximum loan amount is a ceiling, not an award offer. The current news hook is renewed application help; the funding remains an established disaster-loan program with a published March 2027 deadline.
